Staunch support needed for an amendment to HB 2897.
Requires court to make written findings regarding preference for and placement of child, or ward, with relatives and persons with caregiver relationship.

Introduced by conservative Republican Gene Whisnant

Social workers in state child care have been allowed to conduct their duties with little, or no, accountability to anyone. The end result has been unnecessary human suffering and the tearing apart of families. This amendment is sorely needed and would be only a beginning to doing what is needed to protect families from being unecessarily torn apart.

One Oregon woman will be appealing to legislators to see the need for this amendment. The following is a draft of her planned testimony which is only one case illustrating why this amendment is needed.
